Beim Ausräumen des Elternhauses meiner besseren Hälfte fallen uns immer wieder alte Textilien in die Hände. Die ich natürlich sofort an mich nehmen und behüten muss. Ob jemals etwas daraus entsteht, ist eine andere Frage. Aber im Zweifelsfall darf die nächste Generation später mal alles wegwerfen...
Auf dem Zwischenboden eines alten Tisches haben wir diese Holzbox gefunden - randvoll mit Stopfgarn. Zuerst wusste ich gar nicht, was ich damit anfangen sollte, aber ein Besuch im @quilthouse_purgstall brachte die Inspiration in Form dieses naturfarbenen Stoffes mit roten Punkten. Ich werde mal schauen, ob ich das Stopfgarn spalten kann und zum Sticken bzw. Handquilten verwenden kann...

While clearing out the house of my in-laws, old textiles keep falling into our hands. Which, of course, I immediately take and keep. Whether I'll ever use them is another question. But he next generation can throw everything away later on...
We found this wooden box in the drawer of an old table - full to the brim with darning yarn. At first I didn't know what to do with it, but a visit to @quilthouse_purgstall brought inspiration in the form of this natural-coloured fabric with red dots. I'll see if I can split the darning thread and use it for embroidery or hand quilting...

Jetzt ist er endlich fertig, mein Mini-Quilt zum 2. Würfelbild unserer #quickcoincidence2024 Challenge.
Immer wieder schön, wenn ein Projekt fertig ist - und langsam gewöhne ich mich auch an das kleine Format...
Die geschwungenen Linien als genähtes Wellenschachbrett haben es schon ein bisschen in sich. Und hier muss ich ganz entschieden ein Loblied auf EQ8 singen (und das jetzt wirklich nicht, weil wir die Software auch verkaufen). Die Schablonen passen super und mit nur zwei Nadeln am Anfang und am Ende (und natürlich auch bei den Nahtlinien fürs Zusammensetzen der Reihen) klappt es wirklich gut mit den Schwüngen...
Beim Farbschema habe ich die Analogie noch ein bisschen nach rechts und links verlängert und lande damit auf der einen Seite bei gelb-gelb-grün und auf der anderen Seite auf bei grün-blau-blau...
Zuerst habe ich überlegt, ob es als Gegengewicht zum Achteck unten rechts noch ein kleineres oben links braucht. Wie man aber auf dem fertigen Quilt sieht, habe ich mich dann doch dagegen entschieden. Nachdem ich mir irgendwie eingebildet habe, dass ich acht Achtecke haben will, habe ich die fehlenden drei halt einfach in das bestehende Achteck reingequiltet...

Now, my mini quilt for the 2nd round of our #quickcoincidence2024 challenge is finally done!
It's always nice when a project is finished - and I'm slowly getting used to the small format...
The curved lines as a sewn wave chessboard are a bit of a challenge. And here I have to sing the praises of EQ8 (and not because we also sell the software...). The templates fit perfectly and with just two needles at the beginning and end (and of course also at the seam lines for joining the rows) it works really well with the curves...
For the colour scheme, I have extended the analogy a little to the right and left and end up with yellow-yellow-green on one side and green-blue-blue on the other...
At first I thought about whether I needed a smaller one at the top left to counterbalance the octagon at the bottom right. But as you can see on the finished quilt, I decided against it after all. But, as I had planned for eight octagons, I simply quilted the missing three into the existing octagon...

Unglaublich, wie die Zeit vergeht - hier ist tatsächlich das zwölfte und damit letzte Würfelbild unserer #quickcoincidence2024 Challenge!
Noch eine kleine Vorbemerkung: Wir haben 11 Mal brav gewürfelt und NATÜRLICH nicht einen einzigen Würfel nochmal umgeschubst, weil z.B. schon wieder ein Trapez in die Aufgabenstellung gerutscht ist. Jetzt beim 12. Würfelbild haben wir tatsächlich nicht gewürfelt, sondern haben per Zählung die Würfelseiten pro Würfel ermittelt, die selten oder vielleicht sogar überhaupt nicht zum Zug gekommen sind.
Und dabei ist diese Aufgabenstellung herausgekommen: Die Farbe ROT muss vorkommen, eingebettet in ein TRIADISCHES FARBSCHEMA. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Schwarz und Grau sind natürlich auch für das letzte Würfelbild erlaubt. Dann haben wir noch das DREIECK und die GESCHWUNGENE LINIE und den RHYTHMUS, um das Ganze abzurunden.

Unbelievable how time flies - here is the twelfth and final picture of our #quickcoincidence2024 challenge!
A small remark in advance: We rolled the dice 11 times and of course we didn't move a single dice again because, for example, another trapezoid popped up in the task. Now, for the 12th picture, we didn't actually roll the dice, but chose the sides of each dice that had come up rarely or perhaps not at all.
And the result was this task: The colour RED must appear, embedded in a TRIADIC COLOUR SCHEME. ‘Non-colours’ such as white, black and grey are of course also permitted for the last cube image. Then we have the TRIANGLE and the CURVED LINE and the RHYTHM to round off the whole thing.

Die Farbe ORANGE muss vorhanden sein, eingebettet in ein ANALOGES FARBSCHEMA. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Grau und Schwarz sind wie immer erlaubt. Bei den Formen haben wir wieder ein QUADRAT und SICH SCHNEIDENDE LINIEN. Außerdem sollte der entstehende Entwurf einen starken FOKUS haben.

Mit dem zehnten Würfelbild für unsere #quickcoincidence2024 Challenge naht auch schon ein bisschen der Endspurt und präsentiert diese Aufgabenstellung:
Die Farbe GELB ist vertreten und zwar zusammen mit ihrer KOMPLEMENTÄR-Farbe. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Grau und Schwarz dürfen ebenfalls dabei sein. Außerdem brauchen wir mindestens einen KREIS und PARALLELE LINIEN, die sich nicht schneiden. Und einen starken FOKUS sollte der Entwurf außerdem noch aufweisen.

Das neunte Würfelbild für unsere #quickcoincidence2024 Challenge bringt eine interessante Konstellation: Mit der Farbe BLAU soll in einem MONOCHROMEN Farbschema (d.h. nur Blau kommt vor) ein starker KONTRAST entstehen. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Grau und Schwarz dürfen auch wieder mitspielen. Bei den Formen haben wir wieder ein TRAPEZ und GESCHWUNGENE PARALLELE LINIEN brauchen wir auch noch.

Mit dem achten Würfelbild für unsere #quickcoincidence2024 Challenge wird es vielleicht ein bisschen spannend:
Die Farbe GRÜN in einem MONOCHROMEN Farbschema (d.h. nur Grün soll verwendet werden) ist sicherlich noch recht "einfach" umzusetzen. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Grau und Schwarz können die Farbe Grün begleiten, das muss aber nicht sein. Auch der KREIS stellt uns QuilterInnen in der Regel nicht vor größere Herausforderungen. Auf die Lösungen für die PARALLEL-GEKNICKTEN LINIEN mit 90°-Winkeln bin ich schon sehr gespannt und auch auf die Umsetzungen für das Gestaltungsprinzip BEWEGUNG!

With the eighth image for our #quickcoincidence2024 challenge, things might get a little exciting:
The colour GREEN in a MONOCHROME colour scheme (i.e. only green should be used) is certainly still quite "easy" to implement. "Non-colours" such as white, grey and black can accompany the colour green, but they don't have to. The CIRCLE does not usually present us quilters with any major challenges either. I'm really looking forward to the solutions for the PARALLEL-CUT LINES with 90° angles and also to the realisations for the design principle MOVEMENT!

Die Farbe ORANGE sollte in einem ANALOGEN Farbschema verwendet werden, d.h. Orange wird begleitet von den benachbarten Farben auf dem Farbkreis. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Grau und Schwarz sind natürlich auch wieder erlaubt. Ausserdem haben wir PARALLELE LINIEN und mindestens ein QUADRAT. Und die WIEDERHOLUNG als Gestaltungsprinzip ist ja auch schon eine alte Bekannte...

Unglaublich, wir sind schon beim 6. Würfelbild #quickcoincidence2024 Challenge angekommen und haben damit auch schon Halbzeit!
Der Einstieg ist natürlich jederzeit möglich und es müssen definitiv nicht alle Würfelbilder umgesetzt werden (ich selbst hänge ja immer noch beim 2. Würfelbild herum!)
Im Detail: Dieses Mal sollte die Farbe LILA verwendet werden und auch die KOMPLEMENTÄRFARBE darf mitspielen. "Nicht-Farben" wie Weiß, Schwarz und Grau sind wie immer erlaubt. Außerdem braucht es GESCHWUNGENE und SICH SCHNEIDENDE LINIEN und (mindestens) ein TRAPEZ. Und zum ersten Mal kommt bei den Gestaltungsprinzipien der RHYTHMUS ins Spiel...

Unbelievable, we've already reached the 6th picture #quickcoincidence2024 challenge and it's already half time!
Of course, you can start at any time and you definitely don't have to complete all the rounds (I'm still stuck in round 2 myself!).
In detail: This time the colour PURPLE should be used and the COMPLEMENTARY COLOUR can also be used. "Non-colours" such as white, black and grey are allowed as always. In addition, you need CURVED and INTERSECTING LINES and (at least) one TRAPEZ. And for the first time, RHYTHM comes into play in the design principles...
