Mit meiner Frühlingsbrise bin ich zwar noch heftigst am Blöcke nähen, aber mit EQ8 kann man ja schon mal so tun als ob. :-)

Um ein bisschen in Richtung Gesamtlayout und Randgestaltung vorauszudenken, habe ich Fotos der beiden Blockvarianten fotografiert und in EQ8 imporiert. Im Quilt Worktable kann man ja auch ganz leicht Fotos in ein Quilt Layout einbauen.

Insgesamt will ich wohl ein wenig Asymmetrie haben und habe deshalb bei den Rändern eine Fibonacci-Folge jeweils diagonal eingesetzt (1. Rand überall 1", 2. Rand 2" bzw. 3", 3. Rand 5" bzw. 8"). Das Binding ist jetzt überall blau, das muss ich nochmal überdenken bzw. auch nochmal mit Möglichkeiten in EQ8 spielen.

I am still busy making blocks for my Spring Breeze quilt, but with EQ8 one can always pretend to be more advanced. :-)

To think ahead a little regarding the overall quilt layout and the border design, I imported photos of the two block variants into EQ8. On the Quilt Worktable, photos can be easily placed.

On the whole, I would like to have som asymmetry and therefore used a Fibonacci sequence in "diagonal order" (1st border 1" on all sides, 2nd border 2" and 3" respectively, 3rd border 5" and 8" respectively). The binding is now blue all over. I might have to rethink this or continue playing with the options in EQ8.

Für unser EQ8 Werkraum Show & Tell war @juneelou ja sehr fleißig (siehe einer meiner früheren Posts). Ich habe mich mal wieder nicht so hervorgetan an der Fleißecke, und bin ziemlich stolz, dass ich wenigstens diesen einen Entwurf zum Show & Tell mitbringen konnte.

Ich wollte ja schon sehr lange mal was mit einem Horizontal Strip Layout machen. In unserem EQ8 Werkraum Aufbaukurs zu Quilt-Layouts und Quilt-Rändern sage ich ja immer, dass man die Streifenlayouts viel häufiger nutzen sollte.

Bevor ich irgendwann mal zum Nähen komme, werde ich mindestens den unteren Teil ein wenig entschärfen - entweder einfachere Kaleidoskope zeichnen oder die Blöcke größer machen. Den kompletten Entwurf sieht man auf dem Foto unten.

"Kaleidoscoppy" ist ein Arbeitstitel, der ein wenig an Octagonny angelehnt ist. Es besteht zu befürchten, dass ich demnächst in den EQ8 Kaleidscopes versinke - so wie das für die Octagons ja schon vor einiger Zeit passiert ist.

For our EQ8 Werkraum Show & Tell, @juneelou had done a lot of work (see one of our previous posts). As expected, I was a lot less industrious and was quite proud that I could take at least this one design to the Show&Tell.

For some time, I had wanted to work with the Horizontal Strip Layout. In our EQ8 Werkraum Aufbaukurs zu Quilt-Layouts und Quilt-Rändern (in German), I keep telling the participants that we should use the strip layouts a lot more.

Should I ever decide to take this design to my sewing machine, I would at least make the lower part a little more approachable - either create simpler Kaleidoscope blocks or increase the block size. The complete design can be seen below.

"Kaleiooscoppy" is a working title loosely based on Octagonny. It is to be expected that I will soon immerse myself in EQ8 Kaleidoscopes - as it has happened with the EQ8 Octagons.
